Who Is PsychoSloth?
Where does all the energy come from?
PsychoSloth is an exuberant ball of energy hailing from Pomona, CA. With his chameleon-like range of styles, and uncanny ability to channel raw emotion into sound, you are sure to find a vibe for any mood you're experiencing. Feeling depressed, or like everything is against you? Release your emotions with the help of BabyClaw EP, a dark melodic journey through a trapped mind. Feeling angry, full of rage, and frustrated with the state of the world? Channel your anger with Treetop Chronicles, PsychoSloth’s debut mixtape filled with aggressive, hard-hitting, “f*ck the system” type of vibes.
Sloth’s origins are intriguing, to say the least. The first artists that caught his eye were actually a band called System of a Down. He would grow to discover other hardcore, post-hardcore, metal, emo, and metal core bands throughout high school (especially at Warped Tour) - such as Dance Gavin Dance, Slipknot, A Day To Remember, Asking Alexandria, Bring Me The Horizon, and many more - and forever be inspired by their high-energy performances. During that time is also when Sloth first became aware of many current social issues and the true history of this world - things we were never taught in school - and from that stemmed a permanent anger. At last, he finally found a place to release his rage and at the system.
Going to high school in Pomona, Sloth crossed paths with a diverse crowd, and the many various musical influences were quick to pour in. He was largely influenced by the artists he would stay up late watching on MTV jams. The hip-hop, rap, and r&b influences began to transform the musical mind of young Sloth. The vocals, the cadence, the flows; basically the way songs were rapped or sung in these genres helped shape Sloth’s musical style. Fast forward to a few years after high school, when underground artists like Flatbush Zombies, Bones, Pro Era, Odd Future, and SHWB were starting to blow up. Artists like these helped Sloth dare to be his true self and never be concerned too much with anybody’s opinion. It was then that Sloth's authentic creativity was born. Add all of these diverse musical influences, mix them up with an emotional, passionate, strong Taurus energy, and sprinkle in some rough personal experiences and hardship, and you have the Manic Maniac, PsychoSloth.
The past few years, Sloth has been performing all over the place. Live performances where you can feel the energy of both the crowd and the artists are where Sloth thrives. Pre-covid, PsychoSloth was scheduled to perform at SXSW for the first time. This year, he has been stocking up music and visuals to release for you. Expect multiple projects of different styles, insane music videos, and many more singles to come in 2021 and beyond. You can sign up for the Claw Kingdom mailing list to keep up with PsychoSloth’s next big moves, and check out his current music at any platform of your choosing! Sloth DAMN!
